Golden Hills Equestrian Centre has had its Riding School operating for over the five years slowly building up to the center it is today.
Conveniently located in Enner Glynn, Stoke you don’t have to travel far for quality horse riding instruction for riders of all ages and abilities. Goldenhills Equestrian Centre is located 10 minutes from either Nelson City or Richmond.
Our goal is to provide an environment where students can enjoy and achieve a solid foundation in the equestrian discipline. We provide a friendly and professional atmosphere where students can ride and train at their own speed and learn the skills required to care for and ride a horse. Students ride within an arena environment or out along our many trail options including idyllic farm tracks with incredible Tasman Bay views. You will be given instruction by professional experienced coaches. We are riders too!
Whether you are learning to ride, or an experienced rider wanting to up skill we can ensure you get what you are wanting from your lessons.
We have a team of specifically breed, selected and trained horses in our center available to fit your riding ability or you are welcome to bring you own horse along. See below for the pricing and different options.

Summer Programme InformationIntroduction to Riding
A fun learning introduction session specifically designed for younger children or beginner riders. This session runs for 1 to 2 hours depending on rider numbers. Includes basic horsemanship skills, a small riding lesson and short ride out along one of our many beautiful farm trails. Depending on age and confidence lead-rein is available.
This offers a great introduction to our riding facilities, especially if you are thinking of joining us in the future.
This session is also open to group bookings, birthday parties and individual riders, suitable for a range of riders from young children to adults.

4-Day Pony Package
Aimed at building skills in full horse care and rider development, with riding and handling every day to build and consolidate riding skills. Guaranteed to build confidence and increase any young rider’s riding level, this program is packed with adventures. Features catching, leading, grooming, saddling and other aspects of caring for your pony on the ground. Riding time includes, flatwork, games, arena riding, pole work and jumping foundation, and trekking out. Very popular!

Group lessons
School horses
Group Lessons (4-6 riders) are run for the duration of the school term and have many benefits including enjoyment of the social side when riding within a regular group. They also can assist with building confidence for the rider with been able to watch team mates attempt and perform the exercises. The longer lesson time allows riders more time for hands-on horse-care while still riding for the full hour.
75 minutes – $50 – $75 per rider
Lead-rein rides
For young and/or nervous riders, our short lead-rein rides are perfect for introducing children to the joys of ponies in a safe and enjoyable way within their attention span.
Lunge-line lessons
Lunge-line lessons are hugely beneficial no matter whether you are a beginner to riding or experienced. It can be used to assist with establishing your independent seat while improving your riding position. It is also one of the safest ways of learning to ride with the horse been controlled by the instructor leaving the rider free to concentrate on their balance and rhythm.

Treks
For those who are a bit more confident Treks out around the farm can be a very good way to relax after a busy time in the office. We offer a lot of lovely idyllic farm tracks.
We can cater to all levels. Treks can be taken with a group or individually

Payment
Please pay in advance by internet banking (details provided on request), or on the day by cash.
Attendance
Joining a group session means your regular attendance is expected. Repeated absences may result in your place being offered to another rider.
Weather
Lessons are cancelled when the weather is unsuitable (any more than occasional light showers or moderate winds). Parents will be advised by text or call no later than an hour before the lesson time (or longer if requested e.g. if you have a long travel time).
What to wear
• Riding boots (or solid footwear with a low heel and smooth sole)
• A top with long or short sleeves (no singlets), and bring a jersey and jacket.
• Regular riders should purchase their own helmet.
• Jodhpurs (or track pants/leggings).
• Gloves are strongly recommended for winter riding.
